Sometimes, the smallest little paragraph in a chapter can contain some wisdom that absolutely pertains to your child and your child's situation. It doesn't have to be a huge pattern of difficult behaviors to drive you crazy; it can just be that One Thing that you fight over, every day. He was very direct yet encouraging and offered reassurance that your challenging chi This book was very helpful. It has five different personalities, and explains how to help those personalities become more well-adjusted. Apparently that is a extremely normal. He has such a human approach to kids that others have often wanted to treat as rats to be trained with the right system of rewards and punishments.

I took this book out of the library because of my high-energy, aggressive 2 year old, and am now here to buy it because I need to have it by my bed until I memorize it!! The Inattentive Child -- 7. Which I suppose was in itself worth the read. While my own child didn't fit most of the 'types' laid out in this book, I could see elements of his strong personality in some of the types. He talks about the problems, takes a lot of time explaining how the child feels and then offers ways to help your child work around these issues. Many of which are totally out of line as to what you may have been taught was normal or proper. About this Item: Da Capo Lifelong Books.

Even my husband, who is always a bit skeptical with parenting books, was amazed at how on-target this one is. Pages and cover are clean and intact. He identifies and vividly describes these five universal temperaments and then, with great empathy, shows parents how each of these children actually experiences the world and how to use daily childrearing to enhance an individual child's strengths and talents. I give my daughter that time, but I'm not as good with unstructured time with my son. While I still need to work at closing conversations, and completing thoughts. But, it is a great book for all of us, who want to understand our kids more and become better, more confident parents, and raise happy and loving children.

By the end of the chapter I realized that I had dog-eared almost every page. I'll suggest if you have a kiddo that you feel will really fit one of these 5 types, but if you have a kinda innatentive, kinda over-active, kinda defiant child I'm not sure the very specific examples in the book will be all that helpful and you'd be better served by a more general parenting guide. So I reject and find annoying the entire premise and structure of the book. Who among us hasn't come up against a behavior or problem with our child, and felt as if we had tried everything we know of, with no result? The spine may show signs of wear. This book was recommended to me by my daughter's she's 3 now neurological developmental pediatrician at Children's Hospital. My child didn't fit into any of the types, and I found the categories to be a bit simplistic. Pages can include considerable notes-in pen or highlighter-but the notes cannot obscure the text. Anyone with a strong personality was probably a difficult child, at least in some ways ask your mom!! I think this was a very easy read. Pages can include limited notes and highlighting, and the copy can include previous owner inscriptions. About this Item: Da Capo Press, Incorporated.
